Floor area calculator — m², wastage, adhesive

It uses industry-standard wastage values per flooring type (7% for laminate, 10–12% for parquet, etc.) and typical adhesive coverage figures from manufacturer datasheets. For irregularly shaped rooms or herringbone patterns, add an extra 3–5%.

Measure the full room as a rectangle (length × width). Door recesses and small alcoves usually fit within the wastage allowance. Subtract only large fixed installations like a kitchen island that you won't install under.

Typical values: laminate 7%, click LVT and glue vinyl 8%, engineered wood and carpet 10%, solid parquet 12%, herringbone or diagonal layouts add another 5%. This calculator already includes the base percentages.

Coverage depends on the trowel notch and adhesive type, but rule-of-thumb values are ~0.35 kg/m² for vinyl, ~1.0 kg/m² for engineered wood and ~1.2 kg/m² for solid parquet. Always cross-check with the manufacturer's datasheet.
